Art Jam Lantern Step by Step Guide Ver 2

Let's learn how to paint a simple plum blossom tree & transform a paper lantern into a captivating ambient lamp.

Materials & Tools

NOTE:  For this version, 3. Black base holder is replaced with a Lantern stick.

Pencil is optional, you can prepare one if you wish to draw on the lantern first before painting.

Step 01 - How to paint a plum blossom tree

Thick strokes for trunk in the letter “Y”.
Make one side longer to break the symmetry.
Thinner strokes for branches.

01B

Even thinner strokes for more branches.
Split each end into 2, forming more “Y” shapes.

01C

Dots of different sizes for the flowers.
Lighten the flower colour with pink to create different shades.

Step 02 - Assembling the lantern

NOTE:  For this version without the black base holder, the TOP is where the 2 pointed metal ends are.

Step 03 - Painting on the lantern

NOTE:  For this version, hold the lantern based on the image below when painting.

Step 04 - Adding lights

Hook the lantern onto the lantern stick.
